True or False: FALSE

First of all: What on earth does a independent Ukraine have to do with Russians walking in gay parades? I challenge anyone to find any proof of an Ukrainian agenda of forcing Russians to attend such events. No-one is attacking Ukraine, even less armies of gays and lesbians are attacking Russia.

More than anything this should probably be seen as a (pretty clumsy) attempt by Russia to discredit its opponent Ukraine and its western allies, in order to raise the internal morale.

Anyway, for the sake of truth, let’s get into this. While it’s in general true gay parades can arranged freely in the west, no one is forced to attend them. Overall, a small minority of the population in the West,  e.g. 3.5 % the USA consider themselves gay, lesbian or bisexual. Homosexuality is never forced upon someone. What is true is that people with different sexual orientation are commonly (but not always) met with tolerance and respect, in the western world.

And of course we still use the term “mom” and “dad” in the Western countries. Why wouldn’t they? Just as an example, a random article from CNN. If the West had abolished mom and dad, they would have written “parent 1” and “parent 2”, right? Obviously they don’t: They lost their mom and dad to coronavirus – 15 days apart (article, CNN).

In some unfortunate instances, children may not live with their parents. They may e.g. be orphans, living with their grand parents or other relatives. To effectively describe the adults responsible for a child’s upbringing (usually the parents) sometimes the formal or legaslive terms “guardian” or “caregiver” are being used, depending on situation. However, being a legislative terms they are not commonly used in everyday language. Instead, just as you’d expect, people usually say: Mom, dad, grandma, grandpa etc!

Summary: Those claims are so outrageous it’s hard to comprehend how people in Russia could possibly believe in them. And if they don’t, the question arise: If the Russian propaganda and regime could lie so shamelessly about this, why should anyone believe in ANYTHING they say? This is of course FALSE.
